Ego vs Intuition… this is about using your intuition appropriately when guiding others so that you are…
about what you share with your clients and how you share. I am speaking specifically to the intuitive information we receive and how to know what to do with the information. Some refer to this information as a download or an intuitive hit. In the recent science fiction television series, Manifest, when intuition surfaces, it is referred to as a calling.
We all have toolboxes. These are all the ways we may solicit or perceive intuitive information.
Your intuitive toolbox may include (example list):
- Clair Senses and Intuition
- Visual, Aural and Tactile cues
- Divination Tools (tarot/oracle cards, essential oils, crystals, pendulum…)
- Writing (journal writing, letter writing, expressive writing, contemplative writing, automatic writing, poetry…)
- Skills (coaching, counseling, massage, Reiki, spiritual direction, teaching…)
- Music (sound therapy, singing bowls, composition…)
- Art (art therapy, vision boards, collage, painting, sculpting…)
Think about how you discern what may be going on with yourself or someone else.
The toolbox holds YOUR tools. The information you gather using the tools in your toolbox is for YOU.
When you serve as a guide for others, the tools in your toolbox help you discern how to best assist your client and the greatest aid to discernment is the relationship you build with your client.
Sometimes what works best in the beginning is to set aside the toolbox while you listen, establish rapport and build trust. Once the relationship is properly in place, then you can pull from the toolbox. Yes, I understand that sometimes it is difficult to completely separate your empathic response from relationship building or to suspend your clair senses whilst initially communicating, but what I am suggesting is that your focus should be on the “being” and not the “doing.” Be present and suspend your ego needs.
Once the relationship is established and you begin to use your tools, be very mindful and set the intention for always discerning whether or not your client will benefit from the information you receive. Sometimes- in fact, most of the time, the direct information you receive is for you as the GUIDE, not the client.
Here is an example of an intuitive hit and what to do with the information:
You read auras. You see an aura around your client that is black.
You say to your client, “I see your aura and it is black. A black aura usually represents a lack of forgiving. That may be why you have been recently diagnosed with cancer.”
Granted, I am using an extreme example, but this is to illustrate a point.
Instead, the information for you may follow something like this:
You see a black aura. You set the intention for clarity and discernment. You sense that your client is harboring resentment and has not forgiven someone. You approach your client and say, “Sometimes in life we end up carrying resentments or we are unable to let go of hurts from our past. As I say this to you, does anything come to mind?”
By asking a clarifying question, you are using another tool, an aural tool that allows you to listen to the client’s story. Seeing the black aura and hearing her story further validates your insight. The goal is not to fulfill the ego with validation, but rather, guide the client to release thoughts and feelings that are having a negative impact on their life.
Often when you receive information, in the discerning moment, it may be revealed to you that the information is not to be shared but to be used by you as your own guidepost while you guide. For instance, in the scenario above, you may see this black aura during the first encounter. Hold that thought! You are still building rapport. Just because the information comes to you quickly doesn’t mean there is an expiration date on the download you received.
When you receive information that you want to share with a client, whenever possible, turn the information you receive into a teachable moment for the client. For instance, if you sense that a person who is very ill may not survive the illness, think about the deeper message to pass along to your client. It might be to encourage your client to live in the moment or to take one day at a time but certainly not to say, “You will likely not survive this illness.”
For Your Own Good
At other times, the information you receive may never need to be revealed by you. One clear example is a foreboding sense about a client – perhaps that you will not be able to protect yourself psychically, and a referral is in order. You may actually receive detailed information through clair sensory perception. this information may be for you only as a form of protection or self-preservation. Or you may receive information that is very clear to you regarding a medical condition and the referral may be a suggestion to see a doctor while you continue to work with the client regarding other needs. For example, a client reports experiencing more frequent low moods and you receive intuitive information about that is allopathic in nature. “While we are working together, you might also consider seeing your primary doctor just to rule out anything physical/medical.” This is best practice for any healer, coach, therapist, intuitive.
Any time you can use more than one tool or more than one clair sense, you further validate your insight. With that said, some people assume that the more tools they possess, the more impressive they can be. Be careful not to appear like a magician with a hat full of tricks, rather than a trusted guide with a set of tools that are used with intention and purpose. Keep the ego at bay and trust your clairs. Pay attention to how many clair hits show up in any given situation. If your clairs show up by 2,3 or more, you are being validated. I am primarily claircognizant. When I get a claircognizant hit, I pay attention to my other clair senses. If clairsentience and clairvoyance show up at the same time, I have trust and confidence in information I am receiving.
