If you haven’t read “How to Raise Your Personal Vibration” which covers the science of how essential oils work, and the properties of several common essential oils, go read it now! This post is full of essential oils DIY tips and tricks to help you use the information you learned last time.
There are many applications effective for use with essential oils, including application of oils directly on the forehead, bottoms of your feet, wrists, forearms, and around the neck.
Some essential oils can cause irritation, especially to those with sensitive skin, in which case diluting essential oils is highly recommended; whatsmore, once essential oils are diluted, you’re able to use them more freely (as they are now dispersed from the farther-reaching oils). Carrier oils should always be 100% pure (as all essential oils must be as well) and include jojoba, fractionated (liquid) coconut oil, argon oil, grapeseed oil, and avocado oil.
(Heed phototoxicity, or increased sensitivity to sunlight, which is typically present in citrus based oils.)
Using a carrier oil is recommended for faster absorption into the skin. Not to mention, carrier oils have beneficial properties themselves.

Coconut Oil:

Foot Soaks
Love a good foot massage? Me too! Take advantage with the benefits of essential oils when you soak your feet. Add a few (4-6) drops of essential oils in warm water, and enjoy both the aroma and fast absorption of the oils into your skin.
Glycerin Herbal Soaps
This one’s a personal favorite of mine. You can order glycerin (opt for vegetable glycerin to avoid the animal products) or pick it up in a craft store and make your own herbal soap bars! You know the one- the soaps that are clear, and sometimes colored.
Here’s a great mini tutorial on how to do it. All you need is glycerin, herbs, essential oils, and a soap mold. (I use a muffin pan so I can make multiple soaps at once, and they come out round!) You can personalize each bar to achieve different effects. Feel free to give them as beautiful gifts, too!
Some of the benefits of glycerin include
- Cleanser
- Toner
- Water Retention
- Non-Toxic
- Kind to Sensitive Skin
- Helps Prevent Acne
Sugar Scrubs
Another personal favorite of mine: brown sugar scrubs! You shouldn’t exfoliate everyday, because that may damage your skin, but once a week or so I use my handmade sugar scrub, and it makes me feel like a queen! In the long run, it’s much cheaper to make your own at home, and you can experiment with different aromas. You can even use the scrub in the shower– the hot water will vaporize the essential oils in your scrub for more staying power.
You’ll need:
- Sugar- brown organic (some use salt)
- Essential Oils of Your Choice
- Carrier Oil (I use raw, cold-pressed coconut)
Simply combine all ingredients together and enjoy! Try incorporating some of the mixes above. You can make as little or as much as you like! I recommend starting small (maybe using a half ounce container to test smells and different carriers. That way if you don’t like the end product, you haven’t wasted much of your oils, and you can even give your experiment as a gift to someone who will appreciate it.
(Remember to wrap it with a bow and a tag description of the oils and their properties!)
