I recently closed my psychotherapy practice. I have been a counselor/psychotherapist for 20+ years. It was always very important to me that my work space- my office space – was both welcoming to my client and a serene space for me. Accompanying people on the journey from darkness into light is an honor and I was always keen on providing an environment that supported the journey. Creating an intentional sacred space has always been priority.
For the last several years I have split my time between working from home, traveling to conduct workshops and seeing clients at my office. Now I am mostly working from home, facilitating online courses for people in the coaching, therapy and healing professions. As an intuitive, my teaching and mentoring has extended to energy medicine, complementary and alternative modalities and distant Reiki. I needed to create a sacred space in my home/work environment that complimented my sojourn with students AND allowed for a sacred and centering space for me personally.
And so I did.
My altar is a simple space that blends the personal with the vocational- represents the elements of earth, and holds influences near and dear- friends and family as well as totems and stones that have been given to me and iconic spirit guides. I always light a candle because I hear that angels are invited by the flame.
I have sage as well as the essential oils of frankincense, palo santos and white angelica– a lotus, tiger iron and the cross. Above (with a clip in the collage) is a framed print of famed folk artist, Howard Finster‘s Stairway to Heaven. These tokens are all representative of symbols and cultures, influences and angels, God and people who have shaped me as a healer, intuitive, mentor. Simple yet profound- and holding the energy so that I can tap in and “be.”
My altar is about speaking with God, tapping the Divine within and without, creativity and intention.
