Oils for Essential Living was a collaboration between myself and Wendy Bright-Fallon of Nourish Coaches. When I lived in New Jerssey, we partnered to bring local workshop flair to Red Bank. Our workshops were focused on essential oils but we mixed it up a bit to offer introductory education, “make and takes” and special workshops that brought in like-minded professionals to talk about services and products that compliment the use of essential oils. This is a summary of one such gathering.
Back to the original story…
So last week we were delighted to host Mother Nature’s Helpers: Herbal Tea & Essential Oils.
Nicole Lerario (AKA: Madam Potts) shared all about Chai Tea, from the traditional uses of the herbs and spices in the blend to the more medicinal qualities inherent in the Indian black tea blend. We covered how the use of food grade essential oils can also be used in place of the actual herb or spice. For instance, substituting grated ginger root for ginger essential oil.
It is no mistake that across cultures we are all drawn to warm beverages in the winter that contain clove and cinnamon- both spices warm the body and boost the immune system!
We actually made a coconut milk chai using essential oils. This blend required only that a toothpick be dipped in the essential oils bottle and then swirled in the tea to give a hint of each of the oil flavors. We used pepper, clove, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg and fennel. See the recipe below!
