If you have lived long at all, you have either offered up or been the recipient of someone’s thoughts or prayers toward the effort of an individual healing. When we pray for peace, we are evoking a collective healing. Whether we pray to a higher power, or simply hope for healing with our positive, mindful thoughts- whether we use our hands during a massage, or use tools like essential oils, crystals or tarot- whether we rely on the power of God(dess), the life force/source energy of the universe, or the sweet solace of nature- it is the intention behind the thought or action that is most important. That’s how energy healing works.
If you google “energy healing” or “energy medicine” you will find a wide range of definitions, a whole lot of skeptics and many different approaches to energy work. If you want to “be” an energy healer, you can set out on a wing and a prayer or you can be properly schooled and learn from the sages in the field. Your journey into energy healing may involve Reiki, Shamanism or an evangelical revival. Energy healing cuts across all cultures and religions and has existed since the beginning of time. I have come to understand energy healing as something very fundamental- in fact, it is a very basic, primordial act.
Just as with prayer, energy healing can happen from a distance. When we pray for a friend or a relative in another state or country, we have no issue with knowing the prayerful intention is real and the same is true for energy healing. If I send “Love and Light” or Reiki healing to someone afar, I believe this is just as real as prayer- in fact, they are often one in the same for me.
Energy Healers are generally not healers, but conduits for healing. Creating a sacred and safe space for the healing to take place is important. When someone sees me for intuitive wellness or chakra balancing, I call upon lifeforce energy from many sources and ask that what takes place will be for the benefit and good of all. I set the intention and trust the process. I also frame the session positively because I believe we should walk away from such experiences feeling awakened, not overwhelmed.
If energy healing is something you think you might want to experience, just let me know. I offer Reiki Master Teacher training.
