I think I am in the middle of one- which is different than going through “the change” although that is not unfamiliar territory. How about you?
I can tell you what a lifestyle change is NOT. Let’s go there first.
It is NOT looking for the next book, exercise plan, diet, therapist, coach, healer that will have the answers.
It is NOT thumbing through pages and pages of Google indexed websites looking for the same.
It is…
taking in the experience that the books, plans, diets, friends, family, therapists, coaches and healers in your life have presented to you over the years and then,
pausing.
intentionally.
to listen.
What speaks to you? What resonates? What makes your heart swell?
What choices can you make today that will be life-enhancing?
Take a moment on this day to think about the people who have been enlightened witnesses to you- the books that held meaning, the therapist that pointed something out you didn’t want to hear, the diets and exercise plans that felt good while you were committed, even if you didn’t see it through.
Consider your mindset.
How can you embrace what you innately know is right for you in a way that becomes a way of life and not just another thing to try or do? If you aren’t quite sure what that way of life is, you have an innate sense of how you want to feel and be. Be mindful about that. In that mindfulness, all that is NOT (see that list above) will point you to what is…
- I have had many mentors, therapists, coaches, friends and family members love me. help me, listen to me, inspire me and pick me up when I have fallen.
- I have had therapy and coaching and massage and chiropractic…. NAET, aromatherapy and Reiki.
- I have learned to be a psychotherapist, coach, reiki master.
- I have learned more about aromatherapy, intuition, tarot, sprituality.
- I have learned about eating healthfully and soulfully.
- I have seen the face of God in strangers and I have had God moments.
- I have leaned into my disability rather than bow up against it.
- I have read books and I have written books.
Each taken independently become random happenings but bring them together and they become the salient touch points of my life so far. And I am listening- to my own rhythm and finding my own flow.
Don’t DO a lifestyle change- BE in one.
