Years before, I joined her for her book signing:
What a delightful morning! My dear friend, Gay Edelman (you can find her at www.gayedelman.com) is promoting her new book, The Hungry Ghost in our community. This morning I joined her at a book signing held at Cirius Fitness. We are friends and colleagues, we coach others, we write and we are involved in a masterminding group together. It only made sense I show up to offer support and selfishly, to engage in [always rich] conversation.
I walked in and there she was, wearing pearls. That seems like a minor detail but I wore my pearls too- which I rarely do. I have never been a pearls kinda girl (whatever THAT is) but today I was moved to be THAT kinda girl- and so, girls in pearls greeted folks as they entered the fitness center where Gay holds membership. She talked, mingled, passed out information, sold and signed books. I just sat quietly and proudly observing, in between opportunities for conversation with my friend.
Her book, The Hungry Ghost: How I ditched 100 pounds and came fully alive, tells of her own wonderfully spirited journey to wholeness- not just that she lost 100 lbs and has kept it off for 20 years, but that she has found mindful wholeness in a world and at a time when, for most of us, it is but a mere concept. I recommend this book in courses I teach to wellness coaches.
We talked about writing, blogging, putting ourselves out there, healthful and mindful practices that involve everything from spiritual faith to essential oils, and we even shared our favorite discoveries at the local health food store.
I am fed.
Now, go read the Hungry Ghost!
