I am all about alternative approaches to health. I am all about quality of life and enhancing each and every day the best way we can, even in the face of chronic illness and disability. I am all about boosting that immune system… it is about achieving optimal health.
I also know that sometimes our bodies need a different kind of intervention – traditional medical intervention. So please don’t hear this as a plea to give up your doctor visits.
But, I am strong believer in self-help, self-advocacy and self-determination. Personal growth is the vehicle by which we become attuned to our own bodies so that we have the intuition – so that we can listen to our own inner voice and know what approaches may help us live fuller lives. Really.
10 Points to Wellness
That is why my 10-point Wellness Plan encompasses all the facets of physical health and emotional well-being because we kinda have to be on-point with all of it – at least some of the time for any of it to make a difference. That is why you hear so much about “lifestyle change” when discussing health maintenance and weight management.
If you read my blog, you know I am way into essential oils. Like, ga-ga cuckoo and over the moon – that’s how into the oils I am. And for good reason- the other 9 points of my 10-point wellness plan get done because of the oils. How can that be? Because the essential oils in my life every single day- on me, diffused in the air, ingested- do the heavy lifting for me- righting the ship, grounding me literally and spiritually, offering emotional balance, clearing my head of the cobwebs or helping me get through yuch on a rainy day. The essential oils are the backdrop to everything I do. And since I started using essential oils I am able to truly embrace the lifestyle I have chosen for my health and welfare.
Do these 3 things
When I meet with folks and talk about health and wellness, I explain that there are a few steps they can take (all 10 would be great but often that is such a dramatic change that I typically start out with 3 BIG ones…)
- Go on the elimination diet– find out what foods you are sensitive to- and if you can’t embrace the full concept of 3 weeks to 3 months of eliminating and adding foods back in- then try taking gluten and refined sugar out of your diet for 3 months.
- Eliminate artificial fragrances and chemicals from your every day routine- no candles, no cologne, no chemical and fragrance-filled cleaning products.
- Start using essential oils daily.
Use Essential Oils Everyday in Every Way
How do I use the oils in the Everyday Living Collection? Lemon oil in my water or tea, lavender diffused in the air, peace and calming on my wrists, neck or behind my ears to sleep, thieves as a natural deodorizer spray, peppermint on my temples for tension relief… the list and the combinations are endless. And while using the oils everyday I feel my immune system is supported and my body and mind are exposed to vibrational healing.
I took these 3 steps- and now the other 7 points in my Wellness plan are so much easier to achieve! I am not 100% compliant all the time- who is? But these 3 steps I mention here are non-negotiable for me. No gluten, no refined sugar , no chemicals and lots of essential oils!
Common defenses that keep a person stuck
And when I offer these suggestions to people I hear this:
“Oh I don’t know if I can give up my pasta.”
“I love bread too much to go without.”
“I have pets. That’s why I use those fragrant plug-ins.”
“I’ll try the oils maybe.”
And so I say, “Are you willing to take a few simple steps to support optimal health?”
What do you have to lose? 3 months without pastries? Essential oils that smell great and enhance your living environment?
What say you?
