Anointing with essential oils have long been a part of many cultures, religions and spiritual practices but what does anointing with essential oils really mean? How do we apply that concept to our everyday lives? Using the oils in this way can bring you to heightened intuition and wellness. Essential oils promote wellness on physical, psychological and subtle energy levels.
Since I began using essential oils I have instinctively anointed myself with the oils in various ways, on various days and for various reasons. I learned about the Have a Great Day protocol using certain Young Living Essential Oil blends and realized as I applied the protocol, I was indeed, anointing myself.
The simple yet profound practice of anointing or “touching with oil” lends itself to creativity, imagination and intention. We teach that anointing is a spiritual practice – uncomplicated, easy and natural. It captures and embraces a spiritual focus, much the same as we do in prayer or meditation. It is done with a special substance, in a sacred space and time, in a certain way, for a specific purpose. Each act of anointing, as a symbolic action infused with intention, provides an opportunity to give and receive blessings, as well as to visualize and manifest goals for personal and spiritual growth. ~ Aromatherapy Anointing Oils: Spiritual Blessings, Ceremonies & Affirmations by Joni Keim Loughran and Ruah Bull
I began using essential oils as part of my own self-Reiki application, intuiting which oils I might place on certain chakra centers and I found I always chose a tree oil like Frankincense, Palo Santo or Cypress for my Root Chakra. I began to learn about the symbolism and the importance of ritual in the use of essential oils. Mostly, essential oils have become part of mindful and intentional living for me. The oils are vibrational and elemental- primordial and of the earth. The oils allow us to connect, become grounded and act most authentically.
