I teach a Spiritual Coaching Certificate (3 courses) through SCA University of Theology & Spirituality, where I obtained my doctoral degree in Multifaith Spiritual Direction.
SCA University of Theology & Spirituality Spiritual Coaching Certificate
The Spiritual Coaching Certificate provides students with the skill set and knowledge to serve as spiritual coaches to individuals seeking to explore deeper connections and to live more empowered and fulfilling lives. Spiritual Coaching is a craft that brings a holistic element to healing and is client centered rather than problem centered. This program establishes what spiritual coaching is as a discipline and how it works to effect positive change and forward movement for clients from a variety of spiritual backgrounds. It’s aim is to provide a solid degree of understanding and capability in the coaching field by covering essential coaching skills and frameworks as well as assisting clients in aligning with Self and the divine.
Spiritual Coaches are often more open to interfaith, multifaith, and alternative path individuals and are prepared to sit with people where they are spiritually. Individuals earning this certification will learn specific techniques and skills to support transformational shifts for the client.
Three courses comprise the Spiritual Coaching Certificate:
Foundations of Spiritual Coaching
This course will define coaching and delineate the difference between spiritual coaching, pastoral counseling and spiritual direction. Major coach theories and techniques will be reviewed such as the Transtheoretical Model (Stages of Change), Cognitive Behavioral Coaching, Motivational Interviewing/Powerful Questioning and Positive Psychology, all viewed through a psychospiritual lens.
Tools for Spiritual Coaching
This course offers an array of spiritual coaching tools such as faith approaches and divination tools including oracle cards, crystals and essential oils. Students will learn about the Chakra System and corresponding affirmations. The use of intuition and the Clair Senses will be discussed. Contemplative writing will be explored and suggestions for experiential use of the tools will be offered. Students will be encouraged to engage in experiential self-exploration.
The Business of Spiritual Coaching
This course pulls together the coaching scope of practice with a deeper look into coaching ethics. Topics such as fee-setting, pro-bono and sliding scale, online delivery of coach services and niche development will be discussed. We will turn a spiritual eye toward marketing, branding and social media as business-building tools.
All three courses (1 per semester) are taught online. A 4th course includes experiential practicum.
Cost: $2225.00
