Dr. DeeAnna Merz Nagel has been writing since her youth, always putting pen to paper for whatever the cause or the assignment. As a licensed psychotherapist, she conducted online therapy in the form of therapeutic letters via email. She has taught therapists and coaches about the written word as therapeutic dialogue for 25 years.
Dr. Nagel has also authored and edited several books, book chapters, essays and articles. For a period of 5 years she was the co-editor of TILT Magazine~ Therapeutic Innovations in Light of technology. She has also referreed professional journal articles for academic departments and journals.
Her true passion with the written word is teaching individuals the art and blessing of Contemplative Writing– a process that allows the subconscious to bring forth the important bits to explore with consideration. She has found that for her students and clients, this process can boost creativity, foster personal growth and insight and even break writer’s block. Dr. Nagel has also co-created a psychospiritual model known as Essential Soul Care®, consisting of an Oracle deck, a book and a certification course. Contemplative Writing is one protocol of the model. She also refers to Contemplative Writing as Restorative Soul Writing.
